Arts & Crafts

The Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild will once again be part of the Horry Georgetown Homebuilders Association’s Home & Garden Show, February 24 and 25, 2012. As the premier Arts Guild in the area, WACG has a long history of bringing the arts to our community. Members will display their work for sale as well as demonstrate their art.

Tom Britton, a “self-employed artist” will be sketching and available for questions about his paintings. Kathy Britton and Sharon Sorrells, both accomplished artists, will be demonstrating and showing their newest creative efforts in jewelry making. Carolyn Powell will demonstrate using Sculpty, a type of modeling clay that can be used to create detailed figures, and bake to porcelain hardness.

Richard McGrath specializes in woodcarvings of nature’s creatures, especially fish. He recently won his first international competition. He enjoys carving different varieties of saltwater and freshwater fish. He will demonstrate his woodcarving and be available for questions. Artist Jackie Stacharowski, will demonstrate the use of color pencils. She uses “her skills with color and composition to record my interpretation of my world for others to see…and experience a reaction that is theirs alone, but perhaps similar to mine.”

Tom Goodrich, Tony Sorrels and other members of the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild will participate. WACG continues its 40-year tradition of Art in the Park at Chapin Park, adding two shows at Market Common. Vendors come from all along the East coast to participate; tourists plan their vacations to come to these shows.
